Canadian Firearms and General Information

Hunters bringing a rifle, shotgun or crossbow into Canada will have to declare their weapon to a Canadian Customs Officer, and complete a Non-Resident Firearm Declaration (form JUS 909 EF) for a fee in Canadian $. This declaration will have to be shown again when leaving Canada with the weapon. To save time, hunters are advised to complete Form JUS 909 EF ahead of time.

Firearms must be unloaded when traveling.

Ammunition must be kept separate from your firearm(s). Please do not put ammunition into carryon flight luggage. Handguns and fully automatic weapons are prohibited.

The recommended minimum rifle caliber is .270.

Bowhunters may not use a long bow or recurve bow with less than 40lb. draw weight at 28 inches draw or a compound bow set at less than 40lb. peak draw weight or an arrow using a broad head less than 7/8 inches width.

Muzzleloaders Since most airlines do not transport black powder, we suggest that you contact us before your hunt and we will arrange to have your brand of black powder in camp.

Women hunters are welcome!

Licenses

Hunters 19 years old or older must previously have held a big game hunting license or posess a hunter’s safety certificate or equivalent.  Hunters under 19 years of age must have a valid hunter’s safety certificate or equivalent.  We are license vendors and will have your hunting/fishing license(s) upon your arrival.

Bookings: A 50% deposit for each person is required at time of the booking. The balance is due 30 days prior to hunt, or you can make the final payment in camp*. You may send bank draft, money order, or a cashier's cheque.

* In-Camp payment: We will accept your payment in the form of traveler cheques, bank draft, cashier’s cheque, and cash. Sorry, we will not accept personal cheques in camp.

Refunds and Cancellation

Refunds will be made in full, if written notice of cancellation is received sixty (60) days prior to the booked hunting date -OR- the deposit can be applied toward a future hunt.

Goods and Services Tax - All our hunting packages are subject to 5% GST.

Essential Items to Bring -  Sleeping Bag, Rain gear  rubber boots, parka with hood, leather gloves\mittens, insect repellent for bear hunters, camp shoes, hunting boots, light jacket, thermal underwear, insulated vest, rifle and ammunition, binoculars, knife, flashlight and batteries, day pack, camera and films, compass sunglasses, personal items.

Arrival time/Hotel

We suggest bear hunters arrive Saturday before the hunt. We will book a room in your name at the Four Points Sheraton Winnipeg Airport (204)775-5222. Costs per room per night is appr. $140.00 CDN.   If you make your own arrangements at the Sheraton Hotel, please call and let us know in advance of your arrival.
